ICYDK – Oregon Is Burning, Coach Johnston Out, & Oregon Duck Trolling
Of the wildfires burning in the Northwest, 91% of them are in Oregon, so… yay? That does mean that Oregon has been designated as the top firefighting priority in the US, so federal money is gonna be directed here, as well as resources from out of state. And to make sure you do your part, we’re on a campfire ban at most parks. Mmm… propane-flavored marshmallows.
End of an era for the Portland Winterhawks as head coach Mike Johnston is stepping aside. That dude has been head coach for 13 years (the Blazers have had 4 in that time). Coach will still be around though; he’s the President of the Winterhawks and the GM, and assistant coach Kyle Gustafson will take his job. Fight, Fight, Fight!
And finally, this is some pretty pro-level trolling by the Oregon Ducks. That inflatable duck was in the White River in Indiana yesterday as Oregon preps for its debut in the Big 10. The season starts on August 31st, and let’s just say that if the Ducks are gonna throw hands like that, they better represent when it comes time.
