ICYDK – Historic Trees Dying, Lineman Rodeo Weekend, & Local Olympians

A 154-year old elm tree in downtown Portland had a rough winter, so naturally, the City is coming to the rescue… by chopping it down. The local tree-huggers tried to lobby against the decision, but the tree is getting pretty sick, and starting to become a danger to people around it, so… chop chop. We’ll probably turn it into something cool though.
Big weekend for lineman, the Pacific Northwest Lineman Rodeo is coming to Gresham. Not big fans of sick trees, these guys. Opening Ceremonies are tomorrow morning, pole climbing, glass replacement, rescue operations, change-outs, they compete at everything linemen do. Electrifying action (heh heh).
And possibly, local athletes that might get even more coverage… the Paris Olympics begin tonight, and being the Summer Olympics, the NW represents hard. Be on the lookout for Ryan Crouser, Jordan Chiles, Pieter Quinton, Sophia Smith, Sam Coffey, Magda Skarbonkiewicz, Sabrina Ionescu… all are competing, all are our people. USA!
