ICYDK – Union Station Sale, Climate Trouble, & Outdoor Ice Rinks

Union Station is up for sale, but they really want you to keep doing what they did. Prosper Portland owns it now, and says a quarter-billion dollars is needed to renovate the space, so know that before reaching for your checkbook, and they want the new owner to be “transportation-focused,” so… scooter hub? Or flying cars? Ooo, let’s do that.
Oregon State University has just released a new report on climate change, and if you already don’t like talking or hearing about that subject, you’re really not gonna like this report. It suggests cutting back on a lot of the things you like, and says everything gets more unpredictable at the point we’re at, so back-to-back hurricanes are just the start. It’s quite a bummer.
So… perfect time to put in ice rink in downtown! At least one spot will be cool. This happened last year, and they’re bringing it back this year. A temporary ice rink by the Morrison Bridge down in Tom McCall Waterfront Park will be put up. Just a way to draw families downtown and encourage you to spend money, and a new way to bruise your tailbone.
