ICYDK – Hacky Sack Official Sport, Sauvie Island Permits, & Timbers’ New Menu
Should we make hacky sack Oregon’s official sport? It was invented in Oregon and Oregon doesn’t have one, so maybe we should. Washington made Pickleball theirs last year, so it does kinda make sense. There’s a teacher trying to do this, and is doing a TikTok campaign to make this happen… works for me… I played a lot of that in middle school, and I didn’t even smoke weed.
Used to be if you were going to Sauvie Island, you could stop off at one of the local stores on the island to get that parking permit, but the state is yanking those permits and making you do that online. Which, OK, but it does really hurt those stores. State’s not gonna change their mind on that, so best thing to do, remember to stop in and get some snacks.
Finally, the Timbers gonna have new menu items for the home opener this weekend… Korean dumpling salad, tuna poke bowl with mac, pickle-brined fried chicken salad with ranch slaw, mac & cheese topped brussel sprouts w/ bacon, & house-smoked brisket nachos. Moral of this story? Portland is still weird, baby.
